INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS BURSARIES AND AWARDS
We offer a range of scholarships, bursaries and awards for students joining us in September. These provide students with financial support based on their academic achievements, personal circumstances and household income.
University of Winchester Scholarships
International Student Scholarship - Postgraduate
The International Student Scholarship is available to International students joining for a taught programme at the University*.
Open to: International Students applying for a full-time taught programme.
Criteria: Must have accepted an offer from the University of Winchester. Students must have a first or second (higher) class equivalent degree and an IELTS of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in all categories. Recipients must also meet additional merit-based criteria. Helena Kennedy Foundation – The HKF Award
Open to: All prospective foundation and undergraduate students who are currently attending a UK FE college or Sixth Form, and who are experiencing difficulties funding their higher education.

External scholarships - Postgraduate
Chevening Scholarships
Open to: Prospective masters students from Chevening-eligible countries.
Criteria: See link below.
Exclusions: See link below.
Value: Tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, an arrival allowance, a homeward departure allowance, one visa application, and a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master's and PhD study – developing Commonwealth country citizens
Open to: Prospective postgraduate students who are permanently resident in developing Commonwealth countries.

Value: Tuition and examination fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, thesis grant (if applicable), warm clothing allowance (if applicable), study travel grant, and some specific grants for PhD Scholars and if the scholarship is at least 18 months long.

Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship Programme
Open to: Prospective postgraduate students from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique.
Criteria: Students who have no other means of financing their studies.

The Beit Trust Scholarships
Open to: Prospective postgraduate students from Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Value: Tuition fees, related academic expenses, personal allowance, arrival, laptop, printing of thesis and travel costs to and from the UK.

Fulbright Commission – All-Disciplines (Open) Postgraduate Award
Open to: Prospective masters and PhD students from the USA (any residency except the UK).
Criteria: Candidates must demonstrable ambassadorial skills with evidence of cultural sensitivity and a genuine desire to learn more about the United Kingdom and share with British citizens aspects of American culture, and have experience and interest in a range of extracurricular and community activities, leadership potential, and a desire to further the Fulbright Programme and give back to your home country upon returning.
Exclusions: Students already resident in the UK.
Value: £12,700 outside Greater London rate (for the 2016/17 cycle, may vary year to year)

Open Society Foundation – Civil Society Scholar Awards
Open to: PhD students from Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Kosovo, Laos, Libya, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar/Burma, Nepal, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Serbia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
Criteria: PhD students who are looking to conduct short-term, international academic projects (2-9 months), such as fieldwork (data collection), research visits to libraries, archives, or universities, course/curriculum development, and international research collaborations leading to peer-reviewed publication.
Exclusions: Ineligible fields include business administration, management training, computer science, finance/banking, marketing, engineering, hard sciences (physics, biology, chemistry, etc.), mathematics, medical sciences, or teaching English as a foreign language/language instruction.
