Research and Collaboration
We work very closely work with our partner the Holocaust Educational Trust. Most recently, strand lead Dr Alasdair Richardson has led an evaluation of the HET's Lessons from Auschwitz Project, researching students’ experiences. To find out more, read our case study below.
We also team up with our modern historians specialising in the Holocaust to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the annual International day of commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust and more recent conflicts. For HMD 2025, we will team up with the University's modern history specialists for a series of engagement events with local schools and colleges, an online conference, a student-led roundtable discussion, a webcast and various talks and presentations, in collaboration with the Holocaust Educational Trust and the British & Irish Association for Holocaust Studies. We will also be launching a new research-informed teaching resource, funded by the Association for Jewish Refugees.Find out how we marked Holocaust Memorial Day in recent years.
Current PhD research is exploring women's complicity in Nazism, while recent PhD research has looked at the impact of learning about the Holocaust on young people.
