Short Courses and CPD in Health and Wellbeing

Creating lifelong learning opportunities for people working across health and social care systems.

 

This range of flexible courses offers development opportunities for people working across health and social care. Our courses include a wide range of opportunities to develop skills and knowledge for progression, professional development, and to help deliver high‑quality care.

These courses can be taken as a stand‑alone module or combined with any other modules for the following awards:

  • PGCert Professional Practice: 60 credits required
  • PG Diploma Professional Practice: 120 credits required
  • MSc in Professional Practice: 120 credits required, including 60 mandatory credits in Research Skills and Independent Project

Specific Awards / Pathways

  • PG Cert in Prescribing Practice: History Taking & Assessment, Independent & Supplementary Prescribing, and Decision Making for Health Settings
  • PG Cert in Practice Education: Supporting Learners in Practice Education, Leading Learning in Practice Education
  • Community Rehabilitation Pathway: Practice Portfolio, Decision Making for Health Settings plus 2 optional modules

Course Fees

Course fees are set for the academic year September 2025 – July 2026 (may be subject to change).

15 Credits £900 *Exception: History Taking and Assessment at 15 credits is £1,200 due to clinical requirements
20 Credits £1,200  
30 Credits £1,800 *Exception: Practice Education modules at 30 credits are £1,600 due to fully distance delivery
60 Credits £3,600 *Exception: PG Cert in Prescribing Practice is £3,900 due to practical requirements

Entry Criteria

(For all courses except Independent & Supplementary Prescribing)

  • Current professional registration (e.g. HCPC, NMC or GPhC) and working in a relevant health or social care setting.
  • Ability to study at Level 7 (ideally educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience).
  • If English is not your first language: IELTS 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component.

Study Expectations

These short courses are taught at Level 7 (postgraduate) and require students to engage as independent, critical thinkers. A 15‑credit module represents a total of 150 hours of learning. In addition to taught sessions, learners will complete self-directed study, including reading, research, and work-based projects.

Students must successfully complete the assessment activity to be awarded the Level 7 credits.
