Dr Marta Paglioni is Senior Lecturer in Health and Wellbeing in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Care, part of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. She is a registered Dramatherapist (HCPC).
She completed a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts in the Faculty of Humanities (2014) at La Sapienza, in Rome (Italy) a Master of Arts in Dramatherapy (2016) at Roehampton University, London, and a PhD in the field of Health and Social Care at Bournemouth University (2023).
Her PhD stemmed out of a match-funded clinical studentship (Bournemouth University and NHS) to research in the field of Compassionate Communication with older patients in Emergency Department: PAGLIONI, Marta_Ph.D._2023.pdf
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a trained Schwartz Round’s facilitator. She has been facilitating Schwartz Rounds since 2017.
She runs a private Dramatherapy practice, The Cosy Room Dramatherapy, working therapeutically with adults, children and adolescents.

Co-lead of the Annexe A part of the NMC standards of proficiency for future nurses, embedding creative expressive techniques in the experiential delivery of this part of the curriculum.
Teaching to both undergraduates and post-graduates’ health and social care students in the Faculty, with a strong focus on Humanising healthcare.
Supervising both undergraduates and post-graduate’s dissertation projects
Coordinating the organisation and delivery of Schwartz Rounds for all health and social care students.

November 2019 - The Hero’s Journey workshop – using stories for health and wellbeing - on behalf of Yeovil District Hospital in the context of Yeovil Literary Festival;

Planning and co-leading GLOTTODRAMA sessions (www.glottodrama.eu) for students of UNIVERSITY of Rome TOR VERGATA, a project funded by European Community that involved the use of theatre and drama for teaching Italian language as a second language to foreign students. Part of the experimental stage of the project saw me involved in crafting original teaching material which subsequently became part of the syllabus (Rome, Italy).
