Teacher Training Pathways
Teaching is a highly-rewarding career with various pathways available when it comes to getting qualified. The University of Winchester is graded Outstanding by Ofsted for its teacher training and offers a range of training programmes.
Primary School Teacher Training
Becoming a primary school teacher is an incredibly rewarding career. You'll work with young pupils who are eager to learn. You'll see them develop, from learning foundational skills like holding a pencil to becoming independent learners.
Teaching primary is a great fit for anyone who enjoys a broad curriculum, as you'll teach everything from maths to physical education. You'll create a nurturing environment in which pupils feel safe, grow in confidence and have the skills needed to transition to secondary school.
In addition to the personal rewards of teaching primary, there are practical benefits too, including a competitive salary starting at £32.9k (or higher in London), secure pension, more holiday days than people in many other professions and opportunities for progression.
Secondary School Teacher Training
Becoming a secondary school teacher is a great career choice if you want to make a difference in young people's lives. As students progress through school, you'll directly influence their future prospects through the grades you help them achieve and the values you share with them.
As a specialist, you'll inspire students to develop a passion for your subject. You'll give them the skills and knowledge needed to tackle increasingly complex content and maybe even motivate them to pursue your subject beyond school.
In addition to the personal rewards of teaching secondary, there are practical benefits too, including a competitive salary starting at £32.9k (or higher in London), a secure pension, more holiday days than people in many other professions, and opportunities for progression.
