A breakdown of our on-campus accommodation

30 Sep 2024

If you're looking to study with us in September as a first-year full-time student, you are guaranteed a place in University Managed Accommodation if you apply before our guarantee deadline date published on our website. To be close to the University and amongst a thriving community is a popular choice, so let's open the door on your options for on-campus living.

We offer both self-catered and catered accommodation on our campus. Each site is just a ten to fifteen minute walk into town, perfect for accessing the wonderful bars, whimsical walks and independent cafes in the city of Winchester.

All of our accommodation comes with a 24/7 security team, unlimited internet use, cleaning team for all communal areas, contents insurance, utility bills included and easy access to our laundrette, gym and cafes. All our bedrooms have a large pin board for you to make it feel like home.

So, let's walk through your options:

Burma Road Student Village

Modern | Spacious | Eco-conscious

At a glance:

The accommodation at Burma Road is to a high standard and has been built with energy efficient features, such as motion sensor lighting. Each bedroom has a single bed with storage underneath, bedside table, drawers, desk and ensuite bathroom.

All flats have eight bedrooms. There are also six bedrooms that have been adapted for students who use a wheelchair.

The spacious communal area and kitchen are open plan, making it easy to cook and socialise in a group. All the kitchen cupboards can be securely locked too.

If you are a Burma Road resident, you will have our gym on your doorstep ready for you to squeeze in a quick gym session between seminars or before an evening out.

West Downs Student Village

Inspirational | Cost-friendly | Community

At a glance:

Our West Downs Student Village is just a short walk away from the King Alfred Quarter. Rooms are in houses and flats of six to eight rooms with both ensuite and shared facilities available. We also have a few premium shared facility rooms available at West Downs.

If you opt to go for our shared bathroom facilities option, it's a great cost-friendly route. These rooms are single occupancy and have their own vanity unit including a basin with cupboard and wall mirror. There are two separate showers and two separate toilets per flat. West Downs is a brilliant choice if you're not looking to spend too much. The gym and catering facilities are also only a short walk away.

The communal kitchen area is an ideal place to cook, chill out with your friends, and acts as the hub of the flat.

Queens Road Student Village

Vibrant | Sociable | Popular

At a glance:

Each flat consists of four to eight rooms and shared kitchen. There are also twelve single occupancy premium rooms available, and one room adapted for a wheelchair user. All rooms are ensuite with plenty of underbed storage to put clothes, books and other items. The communal sitting and kitchen will have additional fridge freezers as required.

The accommodation at Queens Road is very much in demand so we recommend applying for your residency as soon as possible.

Catered Accommodation

Cost-Friendly | Roomy | Neighbourly

At a glance:

For catered accommodation, there are two halls for residents: St Elizabeth's and Beech Glade. They house some of the largest rooms on campus. A lot of the rooms also have the most fantastic views of Winchester and the rolling South Downs.

Catered halls are arranged by floor with each group of rooms sharing a shower and kitchenette, so you get to know people not only in your own flat, but the whole hall. The kitchenette provides facilities for cooking small meals and snacks.

As a catered student, you will have a flexible weekly allowance to spend on food loaded onto your campus card.
