Dr Simon M Smith is Senior Lecturer in Leadership & Management. He joined the University of Winchester in October 2015. He became Programme Leader for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Head of the Centre for Responsible Management in 2018. Simon was formerly Programme Leader (from 2015-2018) for several Business Management undergraduate degree programmes.
Simon started his career in Higher Education in 2006 and has led and managed numerous programmes, including various International Business degrees, a Business Administration degree and an MBA. He possesses a broad range of international experiences. This includes teaching in China, Cyprus, Germany, the Czech Republic and Spain, as well as working with Higher Education institutions throughout Asia, America and Europe. Prior to Higher Education, Simon worked in retail for 14 years within various organisations and roles, as well as attaining experiences in logistics, secondary education and the music industry.
Simon won Lecturer of the Year at the University of Winchester Staff and Student Recognition Awards 2019. He attained an award in 2015 for a Highly Commended Paper in Employee Relations 2014, for ‘Exploring the impact of Investors in People: A focus on training and development, job satisfaction, and awareness of the Standard’.
Simon was an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Organizational Analysis from 2013 to 2018 (1* in ABS 2018). He is currently supervising three PhD students within the subjects of: climate change education; employee partnerships; and translational research and complexity theory in education.
