Biography

Debra is a Reader in Social Psychology.

Between 1995 and 2000, she completed a B.Comm (Hons) Psychology and an MA in Psychological Research Methods. Between 2001 and 2005, she completed her PhD, supervised by Professor Kevin Durrheim, which was a discursive investigation of the practice of completing a right-wing authoritarianism scale. While completing her PhD, Debra worked as a researcher and Junior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at UKZN, before moving to the UK to take up a position as a Research Fellow at the University of Bristol in 2005. In April 2006, she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of the West of England.

She joined the University of Winchester in 2013 and was appointed as Reader in Social Psychology in 2014. Between 2014 and 2016, she was the Head of Research and Knowledge Exchange for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Debra is an affiliated member of the University's interdisciplinary Health and Wellbeing Research Group and Co-Convener of the PeopleScapes Rsearch Group.
