Dr Sabine Bohnacker-Bruce is the Head of Department for the Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance (EAF) and for the English Learning and Teaching Support Unit (ELTSU).
She is also currently the Acting Head of Quality for the Faculty of Business and Digital Technologies. As Chair of the Faculty Quality Committee she leads on academic quality within the faculty and represents the faculty on several university committees and working groups. Sabine is also the elected academic representative for the faculty on Senate.
Sabine has worked in Higher Education since 2008, initially combining doctoral research with part-time roles in educational development, most recently as Senior Learning and Teaching Fellow in the faculty. She has also held academic development roles in the Department of Curriculum and Quality Enhancement at the University of Portsmouth and the Solent Learning and Teaching Institute at Solent University. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
As a Senior Lecturer in Management, she has taught Business Ethics, Responsible Management and People and Organisations. She has also taught research methods modules for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, drawing on expertise from her PhD research in the field of Interreligious Studies, an MA in Philosophy and Religion (Ethics) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Skills. She supervises and examines doctoral research on interdisciplinary topics, particularly linked to pedagogy and ethics.
In her previous professional career, Sabine worked in marketing, communications and project management roles in various commercial organisations, following an undergraduate degree in Marketing and Advertising Technology from the ‘Hochschule der Medien’ in Stuttgart (Germany).

Sabine’s work in educational development led to 12 conference papers and 4 journal papers on various aspects of assessment and feedback and student engagement in research.
