Education

Our BA (Hons) Education course enables you to graduate with one of three specialist awards: BA (Hons) Education; BA (Hons) Education (Early Childhood); and BA (Hons) Education (Special Educational Needs).  Educators make a lasting impact on people’s lives and our graduates go on to make a positive difference to the lives of the individuals they work with, their communities and to society as a whole.  Whether your degree leads you to become a teacher, or to another graduate career related to education or the wider economy, Education leads to challenging and rewarding careers.  Whatever your chosen specialism, you will develop the breadth and depth of knowledge and specialist skills necessary to become a critically minded, resilient, adaptable, reflective professional.

Education and Youth Studies

Our Education and Youth Studies degree provides you with the knowledge and critical understanding to explore the nature and functions of education in relation to young people with their families and communities. 

Education Studies

Education Studies and Early Childhood

If you want to make a positive difference to the lives of young children, their families and the societies in which they grow up, this degree is for you.  Early childhood education plays a critical role in the cognitive, social and emotional development of individuals in ways which impact their formative years and later lives.

Early Years Education

This programme offers you the opportunity to gain the Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies Qualification in addition to your academic award.     

If you want to make a positive difference to the lives of young children, their families and the societies in which they grow up, this degree is for you.  Early childhood education and the wider issues related to the experiences, development and care of children plays a critical role in the cognitive, social and emotional development of individuals in ways which impact their formative years and later lives.  This degree takes a holistic approach to the study of early childhood focusing on education, care and development from conception to 8 years and you can gain the Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies Qualification at Level 6 in addition to your degree if you wish.  

Education and English Literature

Broaden and enrich your mind with an exploration of English Literature while training to inspire others in their learning with Education Studies. Our joint honours course embraces educational themes, ideas and practices through the study of educational theories and philosophies, alongside a deep examination of how literary texts work from historical, theoretical and cultural perspectives. 

Education Studies and Special Educational Needs

Educators make a lasting impact on people’s lives. By specialising in Special Educational Needs you could make a positive impact on some of society’s most vulnerable people, while working to bring about a more inclusive society.  Working in Special Educational Needs can offer some of the most rewarding, inspiring and satisfying careers possible. Our course offers you the first steps on such a pathway.  

Physical Education and Sport

This exciting, multi-disciplinary degree will prepare you to pursue postgraduate teacher training in physical education, while maintaining a broad view on education, sport and wellbeing. You will be joining a community of scholars of sport and education, where together we stimulate a high degree of independence and resilience.

Education

The MA Education at Winchester is grounded in research-informed teaching, with opportunities to reflect on and analyse aspects of practice within your own education context. The programme is suitable for practitioners working in primary, secondary, early years and post-compulsory settings.

Medical Education

The philosophy of the programme is grounded in a view of professional development through research-based activity. In each module, you are supported to engage with the theories which guide your educational practice in the situations you encounter in your role, and to test and develop these theories through research and reflection. The teaching and learning approach of the course is founded on the principle that learning is an active, experiential and collaborative process.

PGCE Primary is a postgraduate professional programme of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) leading to the academic awards of either a Postgraduate Certificate in Education or a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education. Both awards include the recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Your QTS Status allows you teach any age range, however this programme prepares you to teach particular age ranges.

PGCE Primary School Led
