History and Archaeology

Studying Archaeology or History opens up the world. Learn from our experts in their field, in a city steeped in two thousand years of history.

History and Archaeology INTRODUCTION

Archaeology aims to understand historical societies by uncovering and analysing remains discovered in excavations – from tools and foundations to human bones. Whereby our History degrees aim to widen the student's experience and develop qualities of perception and judgement, while fostering intellectual independence, sharpness and maturity.

Our courses can be tailored to the period that fascinates you as our range of optional modules is wide and includes the Classical World (Greece and Rome), the Middle Ages, the Early Modern period in both Britain and Europe, and international history modules from Russia to Japan and America to India.
