What are you up to these days?

I currently work for Hartswood Films at a BBC Sherlock escape room in Shepherd’s Bush. It’s a really interesting job because it requires acting, writing, improv and speed-typing. All things I think I managed to hone as skills whilst studying my under-grad degree.

Favourite Uni memory

My favourite memory from University is probably performing with The King Alfred Singers at each year’s respective choir festival. It was a long weekend away from studying and the bright lights of the library (and was certainly very much needed during Third Year’s painful dissertation period).

Advice for new students

My advice for new students would be, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. That is such a hypocritical statement coming from me because all I did for three years was convince myself that my workload wasn’t enough and I had to keep pushing myself until I physically couldn’t see my computer screen anymore. It’s okay to have a free schedule, as long as you know you’re trying when it matters. Also, try and join a club. You don’t need to be a member of every society under the sun but try at least one extra-curricular, it gives you a chance to meet more people and escape from your flat mates once in a while (however much you may love them).

Best thing about UoW

Winch was a very special. Because we were so small it made you feel instantly at home, even though I’d been brought up in a massive city, I automatically knew I’d find my feet. It’s a friendly place with a close community but still with loads of helpful opportunities that enrich your social life as well as potential career moves.

Guilty pleasure

In terms of University, I did enjoy going to Detention once in a while; nothing beats singing along to Fall Out Boy at 1am with a bunch of people you’ve only met once in a first year poetry class. Guilty pleasure in life? Probably Jaffa cakes.
