Chancellor 2006 - 2015
Installed as Chancellor of the University of Winchester in October 2006, Lady Mary retired in July 2015. Lady Mary previously held a position as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire for over 20 years, before retiring in September 2014.
Lady Mary is Chairman of Winchester Cathedral Trust, Chairman of the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover and patron of a number of organisations in Hampshire. Lady Mary is the High Steward of Winchester, an Honorary Rear Admiral in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Honorary Colonel of the 457 Battery RA. Lady Mary was made a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by The Queen in 2009 and appointed to be a Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in 2018.
