Biography

Charlotte is currently a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education lecturing on the mathematics and professional studies units. In addition to this, she is currently Priority Lead for Primary Assessment and a member of the Centre for Professional Learning in Education.

Prior to this, Charlotte gained eight years of school teaching experience in an inner-city school in a variety of different year groups. Whilst working in primary education, she led Computing, History and Maths. She worked closely with Solent Maths Hub by attending their training courses and worked collaboratively with other schools in her network. Whilst leading Maths, she participated in a teacher Research group, she explored different approaches to mastery mathematics that she could trial and have impact within her own school.

In addition to her work with Solent Maths Hub, Charlotte became a Mathematics Mastery Specialist which enabled her to lead her own teacher research group with ten other schools. She is currently in the process of continuing this work by exploring procedural fluency through action research.

 

Areas of expertise

Charlotte’s main areas of expertise include Primary Mathematics Education. She is a Mastery Specialist working for the National Centre of Excellent in the Teaching of Mathematics. As a result, she organises ten primary schools in Hampshire by creating workshops and regularly visiting the schools to help support them in their approach towards mastery mathematics.
