Nominate for the Winton Society Awards 2022

Nominations for the 2022 Alumni Awards are open! You have until 25 April 2022 to submit your nomination. This is your opportunity to recognise an individual or group for a challenge they have overcome, a contribution they have made or an achievement you wish to celebrate.

Shortlisted candidates and their nominators will be invited to a drinks reception at the University in the summer.

AWARDS

There are five awards for which you can nominate an individual or group:  

Force for good award

Recognising those who give selflessly of their time and energy to benefit the greater good. A celebration of individuals or groups of alumni, staff or students who have had a positive impact on society whilst demonstrating University values.

  • Nominees will have been responsible for a particular project, event or campaign that has had a positive impact on the wider community  
  • Open to alumni, staff and students

Services to the University award

Outstanding contribution of an alumni or group of alumni to the University community with a particular focus on volunteering outside of official roles.  

  • Advancing the University’s mission and contributing to our wider goals including student recruitment, widening participation and student experience
  • Staff and students are not eligible for this award

Emerging talent award

Recognising the achievements of recent graduates in their professional life through individual enterprise, entrepreneurial success, creativity and sporting excellence.  

  • Nominees will have graduated in the last 10 years
  • Individuals making significant contributions to advancing their field
  • Staff and students are not eligible for this award

Outstanding contribution award

Recognising the achievements of alumni who have shown great courage, resilience, and dedication in extraordinary circumstances.

  • Open to all alumni, staff and students

Lifetime achievement award

Honouring individuals who have shown dedication, commitment and sustained achievement over a long career.

  • This award may be given posthumously 
  • Open to all alumni, staff and students

Mentor a student

Pass on your professional wisdom, career insight and top tips from the world after graduation to a student.

Share your story or a memory

Have a great story about an act you saw at the Student Union as a student? Want to share your news of a professional success? Are you currently having an amazing international experience? We would love to hear your memories from your student days as well as your current news. Get in touch and we could feature your story on our website, our social media channels or in Venta, our magazine.

Do you have items from your time as a student here? Whether event tickets, pictures from any era, or a sports jersey please send us pictures to add to our Winton Club archives.

Rekindle friendships

Be an Alumni Ambassador

Communicate your passion for Winchester to prospective students. Volunteer as an Alumni Ambassador.

Engage with subject-specific opportunities

From Creative Writing alumni raising attainment in English for GCSE pupils, to Forensic Psychology alumni attending the launch of our new Centre for Forensic and Investigative Psychology, we have chances to stay involved with your subject area. Make sure we have your up-to-date contact details so we can invite to take part.

Donate to support our students and our future

Through the Winton Society, there is a long tradition of alumni helping existing students through donations to the Winton Benevolent Fund. The Winton Benevolent Fund gives students the opportunity for support for hardship or to enhancement development opportunities.

Remembering Winchester in your will by leaving a legacy to the University is a lasting gift to future students and to the continuing development of this unique place in years to come. If you would like to include the University of Winchester in your Will, a solicitor will be able to advise you which type of legacy suits you best.
