To mark Race Equality Week 2022 (7-13 February), we are publishing a fourth episode of The Inside Out podcast, which launched last October.
The Inside Out brings together student voices for open and honest conversations about race and diversity, seen from their perspective. The aim is to champion diverse voices and improve the education experience for all students.
In this episode, University of Winchester BAME Ambassadors Shelina and Alisha - with students Maisha, Darren and Elliot - explore privilege, with a particular focus on white privilege. Are all white people privileged? How is privilege portrayed in the media today?
They discuss their personal understanding of privilege and what can be done to support Black, Asian and minority ethnic students who feel that higher education is a challenging environment because of oppressions they face.
In addition to the video discussion above, a longer audio podcast is also available on Spotify at this link.
We are proud to support Race Equality Week, the annual UK-wide movement which unites thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace.
Previous episodes of The Inside Out are available to watch below.
Extended audio podcasts of all four discussions are available on Spotify.
