Dr Thomas Webber studied law (LL.B) at the University of Southampton, before going on to complete his masters degree in international development law and human rights at the University of Warwick during which time he secured an Arts and Humanities Research Council Scholarship to return to the University of Southampton to complete his doctoral studies on a thesis entitled: ‘The European Convention on Human Rights and the Living instrument doctrine: an investigation into the Convention’s constitutional nature and evolutive interpretation ’supervised by Dr Ed Bates and Dr Alun Gibbs and has subsequently presented his research at a number of academic conferences and workshops.
After his doctoral studies Thomas has held academic posts at UWE Bristol and the University of Wolverhampton Law schools as well as having been a part-time lecturer in law at the University of Southampton.
Thomas is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academic (FHEA) and has engaged in pedagogic research around inclusion and belonging among law students particularly in relation to extra-curricular activities. He also has interests in widening access in law having previously coordinated programmes in this area.
