Biography

Jo attended the University of East London, where she gained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 1993.  She then taught English at The British Culture Academy in Toyko, Japan and travelled widely, before completing a PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University in1996.

In her career as a primary school teacher in Manchester, Jo has worked extensively with disadvantaged pupils and children who have English as an Additional Language.   She has many years of experience as a classroom practitioner working with students on Initial Teacher Education programmes and has held several positions of responsibility including Whole-School Assessment, Co-ordinator of Primary Languages and Key Stage 2 Leader.

In 2009, Jo began teaching on the International School circuit, working for well-regarded International School groups: Quality Schools International (QSI) and Eton House, where she trained in the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate.  She has also taught in other institutions in China, India and Thailand.

Jo taught Year 6 in Hampshire before joining the University of Winchester in 2014.
