Biography

Dr Alistair Jones is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Education and member of the Research Cluster for the History of Women’s Education. He has worked in the education sector for twenty years, as a class teacher, lecturer, lead teacher for English, writing moderator, governor and a member of school Senior Leadership Teams.  Professionally, Alistair specialised in primary English and oracy; the teaching of children from armed service families; and the public representation of the past. He has also supported the development of education outreach initiatives for the charitable and heritage education sectors. His current research interests include the history of progressive education and the development of children’s spoken language skills.
