Sam has been part of the Executive Leadership Team since 2019. As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) with responsibility for communications and external relations; international and UK marketing and student recruitment; development and alumni relations; business and community engagement; widening access; and the University’s student support functions.
Sam joined the University of Winchester in 2015 as Director of Communications and External Relations at the University of Winchester. Prior to this he had a career in the Civil Service and higher education policy. Sam was head of the Ministerial Communications Unit where he led a team responsible for delivering strategic communications for various Cabinet Ministers and Government Departments in collaboration with Number 10.
Sam studied at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, majoring in Australian Indigenous Studies. He is a Trustee of Winchester Hospice.
