Chris is an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with the NSCA. Chris is currently programme lead for the Strength and Conditioning degree and lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for Winchester’s Elite Sport Programme.
Chris has worked in a number of sports including cricket, sprinters, middle distance runners, throwers, badminton Iron man, BMX racing and tennis. Within these sports he’s helped to improve performance and reduce injury risk by understanding the movement abilities and force capacity of the athletes. His training philosophy is focused on creating a base of good movement with a high intensity focus to help improve strength and power.
Chris is currently completing a PhD looking at relative joint contributions in the ankle, knee and hip for lots of different movements patterns to identify any joint dominance patterns and understand how this effects exercises and sports skills. This work first looks to identify if athletes have a dominant joint and how to measure this. This will then look to see if the joint contributions effect movement strategies and therefore if training can affect joint strategies. His other research interests include sprinting and jumping mechanics.
