Our inaugural Christmas lecture is an interactive and inspiring event for Years 10-12 and their families.

This year's Christmas lecture will be presented by our very own Chancellor, Alan Titchmarsh MBE VMH DL. A much-loved presenter, poet and novelist, Alan has had a long and varied career. He began as an apprentice gardener at the age of 15 before diversifying into print and broadcast journalism. He has presented programmes such as Ground Force and the BBC’s Gardeners’ World, and has written nine novels, three volumes of autobiography and over 50 gardening books. Alan warmly invites you to his inaugural Christmas lecture, entitled, “YOLO (you only live once) or How to live life and thrive…most of the time.

Doors will open at 5.30pm with your chance to try out some of the latest technology and practical demonstrations from departments around the University. Carols will be performed from 5.45pm followed by Alan’s inaugural lecture at 6.30pm in The Stripe Auditorium, King Alfred Quarter.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the evening and complimentary parking will be available in our Main Car Park (use postcode SO22 4NR).
