Does prison work?
Book now
Thursday 12 October, 6-7.30pm
For those of us who have never experienced it, life inside prison invokes a level of curiosity and interest, and much mythology and mystery shrouds what happens within those imposing walls. Marking the 175th anniversary of HMP Winchester, we will bring together a panel of both practitioners and academics to discuss the realities of contemporary prison life – both the opportunities and the challenges.
Hear from the current Governor of HMP Winchester James Bourke, Judge Angela Morris (the Recorder of Winchester Crown Court), members of HMP Winchester staff, along with researchers from the University of Winchester who will bring the realities of prison to life.
Available to view alongside this seminar is a thought-provoking exhibition ‘Doing Time’ which shares the stories of the people who live and work at HMP Winchester, as well as displaying paintings and poems created by current inmates. An accompanying book is available to purchase from PG Wells for £7.99
Light refreshments will be available from 5.30pm, register your FREE place via the Book Now button at the top of the page.
