David is is the co-founder of the Winchester Centre for Global Health, part of the University's Health and Wellbeing Research Group. Formerly a General Practitioner in Southampton and then Director of GP Education in Wessex, followed by a period as a Director of Workforce in the NHS, David has extensive overseas development experience. Together with Lord Nigel Crisp, he founded the Zambia Alliance to help integrate development programmes and projects there.

His expertise lies principally in working closely with governments and NGOs regarding development work, and he brings to the Centre an expertise in project leadership and management. Together with Professor Colin Coles, David develops the Centre for Global Health’s knowledge exchange agenda, publishing its work and supporting others working in the field to publicise their own experience as widely as possible. He takes the lead within the Centre for its organisational development.
