Biography

Ian is a lecturer and Adobe software trainer (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator CC) in the School of Media and Film, as well as an Adobe software trainer in the Journalism, and Fashion, Media and Marketing departments in the School of Business and Law.

He lectures on several Modules, across all undergraduate year groups, and in workshops teaches the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) syllabus, enabling students, staff and external delegates to sit the ACA examination, for which the University is an accredited training and examination establishment.

Ian remains primarily a production-based graphic designer with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of marketing collateral, including branding, print, publications and web design. Having worked for most of his career at a successful Hampshire consultancy, he has been running his own business since 2012. However, clear communication, being a good listener and good project management remain key to successful and on-going relationships with clients, something he is always keen to impress on students as they enter the industry.

Ian has also extended his Adobe training to businesses who wish to train their staff in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop, and since 2012 has been a Casual Tutor for Hampshire County Council, teaching digital photography and composition skills in the Hampshire Futures scheme for adults.
