Gavin became Chief Operating Officer at the University of Winchester in March 2020. Prior to this, he worked within the transport industry for 17 years, leading him to become Managing Director of six bus companies across several counties in Southern and Eastern England.
Gavin is originally from Troon in South Ayrshire, Scotland where he grew up, and now lives in Bishops Waltham. He studied for an Honours Degree in Geography and Urban Planning at Strathclyde University and then a Master of Science in Business and Information Technology at Strathclyde Business School.
Gavin is a member of the Institute of Directors and holds a Diploma in Company Direction. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Outside of work, Gavin is a keen walker and has completed the Three Peaks Chellenge. He has also climbed the highest peak in North Africa – Mount Toubkal
Within the University, Gavin is responsible for areas including Finance and Planning, Registry, Estates and Facilities, Continuous Improvement Unit, ITS and the Library.Staff Directory
